Presidents Message
Welcome to the Coboconk and District Lion’s Club Website.
It is my honour and privilege to be the president of this small but dedicated and energetic group of individuals, all with unique talents but one common goal; to serve the members of this community in the best way we can.
While looking through this website, you will learn that the Coboconk Lions club has been serving this community for 70 years! Some of your club’s past accomplishments and ongoing projects as well as our fundraising campaigns can be seen on these webpages.
This past year the Coboconk Lions club alone:
-collected 166 pairs of eyeglasses which are refurbished and sent nationally and abroad to individuals who don’t have access or are unable to afford eyeglasses.
-we made approximately 25 monetary donations to local groups for a total of over 17,000 dollars. Our largest donations were to Guide Dogs of Canada, the new Lindsay Community Centre, A Place Called Home and the Coboconk Food Bank.
-collected pounds and pounds of pop tabs and bottle caps for our Guide Dogs and Camp Kirk.
The above accomplishments are made possible by you, the community, who purchased tickets on our various raffles or donated funds to us. Lions clubs are entirely self funded and money raised is given back to the community. We work hard to give it all away.
This is your community Lions Club. Get involved. Join us! Click on the “How do I become a Member” link at the top of the page, look through the many pictures of the fun we have (Click button), see the local causes (Lion button) and global causes (Push button) we support and continue to the bottom to enter your information to be contacted by one of our club’s Lions to talk.
There is no better feeling than helping identify a need in your area, and/or rolling up your sleeves with like-minded people to get involved in helping someone or a community project. To realize the impact, seeing the joy and smiles on participants and recipients’ faces is a feeling you cannot explain, you just need to experience it.
Hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Beverley Parsons
